Daniel Podence has been charged by the FA after the Wolves winger allegedly spat at Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson.
Forest have also been charged with failing to control their players for their reaction to a potential handball from Wolves defender Nelson Semedo being waved away by referee Chris Kavanagh.
The Reds were part of a controversial clash with Wolves at the City Ground last weekend. Forest assistant Alan Tate, alongside Wolves coach Pablo Sanz, were both shown red cards after clashing on the touchline, following Wolves’ appeals for a penalty. The pair have both been charged as well.
Podence, who fired in Wolves’ equaliser, was at the centre of late controversy after he appeared to spit in the direction of Brennan Johnson. Kavanagh took no initial action and VAR subsequently cleared Podence after reviewing the incident.

Speaking after the game, Forest forward Johnson shared his thoughts on what happened: "I'm not going to allegate him, but I felt like some sort of spit came towards my face," he told Sky Sports. "The referees have had a look at it, so it's done now. I'm completely fine with it."
The FA have announced that Podence has been charged for allegedly spitting at the Forest man, while the Reds have also been charged for failing to control their player after surrounding the referee in their appeals for a penalty. Forest, Tate, Podence and Sanz have until April 12 to respond.
As reported by PA, a statement from the FA read: “Various charges have been raised following the Premier League fixture between Nottingham Forest and Wolves on Saturday 1 April.
“Nottingham Forest has been charged after its players surrounded the match official during the 40th minute.
“It is alleged that the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or do not behave in a way which is improper.
“Both Nottingham Forest and Wolves’ assistant managers, Alan Tate and Pablo Sanz, have also been charged.
“It is alleged that their behaviour during the 52nd minute was improper and/or violent.
“Finally, Wolves’ Daniel Podence has been charged after the forward allegedly spat on an opposing player during the 90th minute.”
