Amid a much-changed dressing room Nottingham Forest’s team spirit is as strong as ever, according to defender Steve Cook.
Morgan Gibbs-White became the latest new face added to the squad when he agreed a club record deal last Friday. His arrival took the Reds’ total number of summer additions up to 16, albeit Brandon Aguilera immediately headed back out on loan after putting pen to paper.
Getting a new-look side to gel is the challenge for boss Steve Cooper, while also trying to navigate the difficulties of the Premier League. Forest continue to take positive steps, however, with four points claimed from their first three games, following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Everton.

After joining in January, Cook became a mainstay of the team which ended the Reds’ 23-year exile from the top-flight with victory via the play-offs. And he says there is already a unity between the players to match that of last term’s promotion-winning group.
“I feel the team spirit is as good as last season, if not better. We’re really enjoying it,” the centre-back told NottinghamshireLive.
“We had a really good pre-season, with a lot of togetherness - the manager is very hot on that anyway. We’ve got a lot of lads who are still Forest through-and-through, who know how to transfer that to other lads.
“I’ve only been here a short time, but I’ve grasped that as well. Hopefully I can contribute in that aspect.
“There’s been a lot of change this summer, but I must say, the changing room is as good as ever. Sometimes when you sign as many players as we have, it can be difficult to integrate everyone, but the changing room feels very strong and very together.
“We’ve gelled quite quickly. There are a lot of experienced players in there.
“We’re enjoying it. We feel we can add a lot to the Premier League. I feel like we’ve had a half-decent start.”
