A young man is in hospital after a shooting in an upmarket area of west London.
Police were alerted to reports of gunshots being heard on Lancaster Road, Notting Hill shortly before 9.40pm on Wednesday.
Paramedics and London air ambulance crews also scrambled to the incident in a housing block close to Portobello Road Market and Ladbroke Grove Tube station.
The victim in his mid 20s suffered a wound to the leg.
He was taken to hospital where his injuries were found to be not life-threatening or life-changing.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the force has launched an investigation but the gunman remains at large.
A spokesman added: “Police were called at 9.38pm on Wednesday, October 9 to reports of gunshots heard in Lancaster Road W11.
“Officers responded with London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
“A man was found in a residential block with a gunshot injury to his leg.
“He has been taken to hospital, his condition is not life-threatening or life-changing.”
“At this early stage there have been no arrests.
“Urgent enquiries are ongoing.”
