Black stripe alert! Out of high school, Lorenzo Styles Jr. decided on Notre Dame to play his college ball instead of following in his father’s footsteps at Ohio State. A four-star prospect coming out of Pickerington Central, Styles was a highly touted wide receiver and defensive back.
After a two-year stay in South Bend where he put up respectable numbers as a wideout, Styles decided he wanted a fresh start both in surroundings and position. So he entered the transfer portal and decided to come home to Columbus and moved back to cornerback.
Styles was originally recruited by the Buckeyes in 2021 to be a corner. Ultimately, that’s where his path brings him, it just took longer to get there. Now Styles has lost his black stripe and is welcomed as the newest member of the Brotherhood.

Lorenzo’s younger brother, Sonny, also plays in Scarlet and Gray, coming to Ohio State in 2022 after reclassifying as the No. 2 safety in the land. The elder Styles may have trouble finding time on the field with a talented defensive back unit, but he has two years of eligibility remaining. He will add depth to a key position for the Buckeyes.
