Chantal Coady, the only chocolatier to be made an OBE for services to chocolate, started Rococo 40 years ago. Then, a few years on, things went a bit sour. If you want to read more about it you can Google it. Now, Coady is back at Rococo (hurrah for karma!) and has launched the most expensive chocolates, gram for gram, in Great Britain.
I’m not usually a fan of expensive chocolates per se, but these are £3.50 a truffle so, while small, it is possible to sample them for a not huge outlay. The Cru Criollo truffles are being launched to celebrate Rococo’s ruby anniversary. Criollo is the rarest of beans, making up just 0.01% of cocoa in the world, and the truffles come in three permutations, from a dark milk at 38% to a 75%.
