Anfield great Steve Nicol believes that Liverpool should pass up the opportunity to sign USA World Cup star Yunus Musah.
Valencia midfielder Musah put in a number of stellar displays for the American national team in Qatar, helping them to advance from Group B alongside England, before they were eliminated in the round of 16 by the Netherlands.
The 20-year-old had already been linked with a move to Merseyside prior to the World Cup but Nicol, who spent over 10 years in the States managing New England Revolution and the Boston Bulldogs, believes he is not yet ready to make the step up to a club like Liverpool.

When ask edif the Reds should look to bring Musah to Anfield in January, Nicol told ESPN: “Not yet. I mean he has had a good World Cup as far as the dirty side of the game, the running, the challenging, the winning the ball back.
"You could argue that Liverpool’s best team, they had three guys in the middle of the park that were really good at that. But no, I don’t think he’s close to Liverpool yet.”
According to 90min, Liverpool have contacted Valencia to gauge the possibility of a deal being done for their player. Musah was born in New York city to Ghanaian parents and lived there for 10 years before moving to Italy. He started his youth career with Giorgione before joining Arsenal's set-up.
He joined Valencia on a permanent deal in 2019 and has since gone on to make 82 appearances for the La Liga side.
