Not Deja Vu, There's A New Ducati Streetfighter and Panigale V4 Rear Brake Recall

You're not dreaming it, and you didn't time-travel, either; at least, not if the concept of this recall looks familiar to you. What you may instead be recalling (like I did) is that in January 2025, Ducati also had a recall for potential rear brake failure on certain Panigale and Streetfighter V4s.

While the recall I'm about to tell you about is related to the one from a year ago, it's both an expansion and a new recall that supersedes the one from January 2025. So if you own one of these bikes, you'll want to read this.

On January 28, 2026, Ducati North America filed a safety recall notice with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding its 2025 and 2026 Panigale/S and Streetfighter/S V4s. The issue relates to the portion of the rear brake hose located between the ABS control unit and the rear brake caliper, which may not have sufficient heat insulation from its proximity to the exhaust manifolds.

Ducati's fix for this issue is to extend the rigid thermal shield, which is a solution that the company is also implementing for new bikes on the production line. In the meantime, though, it is recalling already produced bikes in order to extend that heat shield.

Approximately 1,440 motorcycles in the US market are believed to potentially be affected, which represents about 1.8% of the population. If heat damage to that portion of the rear brake hose occurs, a rider could experience a sudden loss of rear brake function. This could, in turn, increase the risk of a crash and/or injury. To be clear, this issue only affects the rear brake, and does not affect the front brake.

Regarding any warning signs that could occur ahead of a failure, Ducati advises that damage may be visibly observable prior to a rider feeling it when they go to actuate the rear brake. However, riders may also notice a loss of rear brake performance during pre-ride checks. At the same time, however, in some cases a hose failure and loss of brake fluid (which you don't want spraying all over your paint or tires) may also occur without warning.

As of January 28, 2026, Ducati North America says that it has not received reports of accidents, injuries, or any property damage related to this recall. The company is notifying its dealer network about this issue during the week of February 3 through 10, 2026. It plans to mail notifications to registered owners of affected bikes between March 3 and March 10, 2026.

Owners will be instructed to contact their local authorized Ducati dealer to schedule a recall service appointment. The remedy service will be performed at no charge to the customer. This recall both expands and supersedes Ducati campaign SRV-RCL-025-001. As a note, when reading both Ducati's and NHTSA's recall campaign numbers, both organizations include the last two digits of the year of a recall in their campaign numbers; hence, why SRV-RCL-26-001 is the January 2026 recall and SRV-RCL-025-001 was the January 2025 recall.

Ducati's campaign number for this recall is SRV-RCL-26-001, and owners in the US may contact Ducati NA's customer service hotline at 1-888-391-5446. Additionally, owners may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171) or go to www.nhtsa.gov
