Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has admitted that his side's defeat to Brentford before the World Cup was "not acceptable", as he backed the Blues to turn their season around and challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title.
City were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton in their last league game on New Year's Eve, as Erling Haaaland's first-half opener was cancelled out by a stunning strike from Demarai Gray. The result allowed Arsenal to stretch their lead to seven points with a win against Brighton later that evening.
Mikel Arteta's side could have gone 10 points clear at the top, but were held to a 0-0 draw with Newcastle at home on Tuesday night. The result now means that should City win against Chelsea on Thursday, they can close the gap back down to just five points.
