The Norwegian Refugee Council reported that none of its aid trucks were able to enter the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing on Wednesday. Despite earlier claims by Israel that the aid crossing had been reopened, the head of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Jan Egeland, stated that no trucks had crossed over. Egeland mentioned that although there were talks of opening the Kerem Shalom border crossing, no humanitarian trucks were able to pass through.
Egeland further explained that a few aid trucks from the Norwegian Refugee Council had entered Gaza via the Rafah crossing late last week. However, due to a lack of fuel and financial resources, the NRC was unable to arrange for additional aid deliveries using cars or trucks.
In response to the United States' decision to halt a shipment of bombs to Israel over concerns about their potential use in a Rafah incursion, Egeland expressed strong disapproval. He questioned the rationale behind providing such powerful bombs for use in a conflict zone heavily populated by vulnerable civilians.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces reported multiple launches originating from the Rafah area towards the Kerem Shalom Crossing. Fortunately, these launches did not breach Israeli territory and landed within the Gaza Strip.
