Norway to introduce tourist tax amid record visitor numbers and overtourism concerns

Norway is set to become the latest European destination to introduce a tourist tax to combat concerns about rising visitor numbers.

Lawmakers approved the new levy on Thursday, which allows municipalities to introduce a 3 per cent tax on overnight stays in “areas particularly affected by tourism”.
