A Northumberland holiday park has been snapped up by a growing Essex company in an undisclosed deal.
Wyldecrest, based in West Thurrock, has snapped up the 167-holiday home Felmoor Park, near Felton, Northumberland, in a deal arranged by Colliers.
The 39.2 acre park has a licence for 185 units to operate 12 months of the year and came onto the confidential market when the founding family owners announced they wanted to retire.

The site – which is predominantly made up of privately-owned log cabins, static caravans and lodges – was particularly attractive to Wyldecrest because of its established reputation in the North East.
Felmoor Park becomes Wyldecrest’s 10th site and sits close to the company’s neighbouring Bockenfield Country Holiday Park, which is becoming increasingly popular for staycations.
Wyldecrest owner Alfie Best said: “Felmoor Park is a beautifully maintained site, which I’m thrilled to welcome to the Wyldecrest fold where we will be able to utilise our experience to take the park forward to the next level and serve its loyal customers.”
The site, which is 30 minutes from tourist locations including Amble, Alnwick and Bamburgh, also includes a wild west themed bar and restaurant.
The Crazy Horse Saloon with 280-covers caters to both park customers and local residents, and includes a basement arcade and outside children’s play area.
Richard Moss, head of UK Parks Agency at Colliers said: “We’re thrilled to have arranged this sale on behalf of the retiring owners. Felmoor Park has built up a strong reputation with its customers and Northumberland has clearly become increasingly popular in recent years for both holiday home ownership and short breaks.”
The deal follows a flurry of holiday park acquisitions in recent months, including US firm Sun Communities’ takeover of Park Leisure for £182m and Park Holidays for £950m.
CVC Capital Partners has also acquired rival Away Resorts and Derbyshire-based holiday operator Forest Holidays has also been sold to Cheshire-based Sykes Holiday Cottages.
Meanwhile, Butlins is up for sale and a potential auction for Newcastle-based Parkdean Resorts is reported to have attracted a £2bn bid from New York private equity firm Apollo Global Management.
