Northumberland County Council appoint Stephen Gerrard as new monitoring officer

Northumberland County Council has agreed to appoint a new legal boss as the revamp of the authority's top team continued.

The temporary appointment will see Stephen Gerrard - "not that one!" council leader Glen Sanderson joked - employed on a two-year basis and was approved by full council on Wednesday.

Mr Gerrard will take over on an interim basis from Suki Binjal, who joined also on an interim basis in November 2021. He is expected to start work in June.
