A Northern Irish diplomat went from running the Belfast Marathon to helping people in war-torn Sudan flee for their lives.
Co Down native Lisa Gill was part of the UK Government's operation to rescue more than 2,450 people from the war torn country, working with its Rapid Deployment Team to help airlift British nationals out of the African country.
The 31-year-old Downpatrick woman, who works for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), received the call to join the operation hours after she had completed the Belfast Marathon.
