A Yellow weather warning for ice will be in place on Thursday as temperatures drop across Northern Ireland.

The Met Office has issued a warning for December 8, when temperatures will drop to as low as minus two degrees and highs of four.

The warning will be in place from midnight on Thursday to around 6pm and the Met Office has warned that disruption is likely due to icey surfaces.

It said: "Frequent wintry showers will spread into Northern Ireland through the early hours of Thursday then on to Wales and parts of the West Midlands during the morning.

"These will fall on frozen ground in many areas, leading to the formation of icy stretches on untreated surfaces. In addition, showers are likely to fall as snow on high ground and perhaps more widely across Wales and the West Midlands during the day, with slight accumulations possible in places."

Prior to Thursday, temperatures will be a little higher across Northern Ireland with it staying dry on Tuesday, December 6, with some showers in coastal areas.

The Met Office has said that stronger winds will make it feel colder on Wednesday, December 7, but the weather will be similar to the day before.
