The Met Office has said a weather warning is likely to cause disruption to parts of Northern Ireland on Monday.

An alert for heavy rain is in place from 6am until midnight on Monday and is likely to cause some disruption to travel during the day.

The yellow warning covers all areas of Northern Ireland with some areas at risk of flooding, the Met Office has said.

Issuing the alert on Sunday afternoon, a spokesperson for the Met Office said: "A band of rain will become slow moving across parts of Northern Ireland during Monday.

"There remains some uncertainty as to exactly where this happens, but many places in the warning area are likely to have 15-25 mm of rain with a few places in the south, particularly over hills, having 40-50 mm."

They added: “Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.

“Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer. Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.”

The Met Office also warned that flooding is dangerous and can happen very quickly.
