Northern Ireland weather: Forecast for week ahead as mild temperatures and strengthening winds expected

Recent weeks have proven that autumn has definitely arrived in Northern Ireland, with darker nights and a dip in temperatures.

Looking at the weather forecast for the new week, the Met Office are predicting milder temperatures and strengthening winds for Northern Ireland.

As is expected at this time of year, much of the week will see a mixed bag of weather conditions, with sunny intervals and rain showers in the forecast.

Here's what you can expect from the weather this week in Northern Ireland:

Monday

Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, heavier at times in south and west. Some drier, brighter interludes, best towards North Coast. Strengthening southerly winds, risk of east coast gales later. Highs of 14 C, lows of 8 C.

Tuesday

Brief sunny spells and heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Highs of 12 C, lows of 8 C.

Wednesday

Sunny spells and a few showers. Highs of 12 C, lows of 10 C.

Thursday

Cloudier with strengthening winds and some rain. Highs of 16 C, lows of 13 C.

Friday

Light cloud and a moderate breeze. Highs of 16 C, lows of 11 C.

Saturday

Light cloud and a fresh breeze. Highs of 14 C, lows of 11 C.

Sunday

Light cloud and a moderate breeze. Highs of 12 C, lows of 8 C.
