Northern Ireland teenager celebrates title glory with Manchester City

Northern Ireland youngster Shea Charles is celebrating after captaining Manchester City's Elite Development Squad to the Premier League 2 title.

City beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 on Saturday in what was their penultimate game of the season, before the trophy was presented.

The title was already secured, with Saturday's win moving City 13 points clear of second-placed Chelsea and they have a game in hand.

It is the third year in a row the club has won the PL2 title, the young side dominating the U21 landscape during that time.

Charles got to raise the trophy on Saturday in front of his ecstatic teammates, in what is the latest stellar moment for the versatile defender.

The 19-year-old started playing for City as an Under 9 and has steadily progressed through the club academy's age groups.

Charles signed his first professional contract in July, 2021 before moving into the Elite Development Squad..

He has also featured for City's Under 23s, and has played in the UEFA Youth League, and has previously been involved with Pep Guardiola's first team at the Etihad.

Charles has already been capped at senior level for Northern Ireland after progressing through the underage ranks.

Under 17 and 19 manager Gerard Lyttle previously labelled the teenager a "Rolls Royce footballer".
