Rangers B beat Celtic in Glasgow Cup semi-final as Northern Ireland teen emerges as hero

Northern Ireland Under 21 international Charlie McCann was the hero as Rangers B beat their Celtic counterparts in the semi-finals of the Glasgow Cup.

McCann scored the winning penalty in a tense 5-4 shootout win at Auchenhowie.

There was agony for fellow Northern Ireland youngster and Celtic midfielder Ben Wylie who had his spot-kick saved by Lewis Budinauckas.

Rangers will face either Queen's Park or Clyde in the final after their thrilling win on Tuesday afternoon.

The game itself finished 2-2, with Rangers coming from behind twice to take the game to penalties.

Celtic were in front in the 12th minute when first team star Mikey Johnston dispatched a cut-back into the net.

Rangers were level 10 minutes before the break.

It was another Northern Ireland youngster who did the damage, with Under 21 forward Ross McCausland making it 1-1 with a superb volley from the edge of the box.

Celtic edged ahead in the second half when Karamoko Dembele surged down the right before squaring for Ben Summers who squeezed the ball under Budinauckas.

Rangers showed their fighting spirit by clawing their way back into the game in the 77th minute, Cole McKinnon finding the net to level things up for a second time and send the game to penalties.
