Northern Ireland Euro 2024 draw confirmed in Frankfurt as Ian Baraclough avoids hot groups

Northern Ireland discovered their Euro 2024 qualifying opponents on Sunday.

Ian Baraclough's side knew they would face a massive challenge as they went into Pot 5 for the draw in Frankfurt.

But they got a favourable draw considering some of the nations they would have been pitted against.

Northern Ireland will be in Group H alongside Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Kazakhstan and San Marino.

Qualification will still be a steep step for Baraclough and his players, but it could have been considerably worse.

Just ask the Republic of Ireland.

They were thrust into a proper Group of Death alongside European heavyweights Netherlands and France.

Stephen Kenny's men will also face Greece and Gibraltar.

Elsewhere, England have been included in the same group as Italy - that's a repeat of the Euro 2020 final. Scotland will also have Spain to contend with in Group A.

Wales will play against Croatia, Armenia, Turkey and Latvia in Group D.

The 10 group winners and 10 group runners-up qualify directly for the finals. The three remaining spots will be completed with the teams that qualify through the play-offs in March 2024.
