North East weather: Met Office forecasts a chilly and showery start to March

March will get off to an overcast and rainy start in the North East with less than three weeks to go until the first official day of spring.

According to the Met Office, Wednesday will be another cloudy day with more light showers moving in off the North Sea and a chilly breeze that will be particularly felt along the coast. The outlook for the rest of the week is further cloud with isolated showers on Thursday, before the region is treated to some drier and brighter conditions on Friday and Saturday with chances of sunny spells.
