The week is set to get off to a cloudy start though the sun will make it out later in the day.
The North East will wake up to a dry and cloudy morning on Monday September 12, though the early afternoon will be overcast and there's a 20% chance of rain between 1pm and 3pm. The weather will improve on Tuesday and Wednesday, with dry sunny spells expected throughout both days.
The Met Office said: "Dull, cloudy start, with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, perhaps the odd heavier burst. Rain clearing erratically southwards through the day, with sunshine following into Northumbria. Maximum temperature 21 °C"
