North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for Friday and Christmas Eve according to the Met Office

The weather in the North East continues to be unsettled as many of us finish work for the festive weekend, with heavy rain arriving as temperatures are set to feel colder.

Wintry conditions could set in over higher ground tonight according to the Met Office, with mostly dry conditions in the region overnight amid some fog patches and a few scattered showers. A band of heavy rain is set to arrive from the southwest by Friday afternoon, potentially bringing snow to some areas.

Christmas Eve looks set to be unsettled with bright spells and showers, before a windy Christmas Day arrives with chances of heavy rain that could turn to snow over the hills. Here's the hour-by-hour forecast for the final two days before Christmas in Newcastle.
