A masked gunman blasted a shotgun through the front door of a mum's home in an alleged plot to murder her partner, a court heard.

Ryan Carr was allegedly the target of a planned hit after falling into a dispute with Aaron Giles. Mr Carr was at home with his partner and her young son when Giles is alleged to have tried to lure him out while a shooter lay in wait outside his home in South Shields.

The gunman is then said to have fired two shots through the front door of the property. Giles has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence but denies conspiracy to murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Taxi driver Kevin Chapman, who prosecutors say took Giles and the gunman to the scene, denies all three charges.

This spirited group have already overachieved - their contributions will never be forgotten - but Newcastle are going to have to evolve in the coming years to get to where they want to go. Eddie Howe, himself, admitted that there will be 'some players that might not get back to Wembley' before the Newcastle head coach later added: "We know how and what we need to do to push the team on.

A dad who got a 'NUFC cup winners' tattoo on his leg BEFORE the Carabao Cup final said he has no regrets.

Kris Cook got a tattoo that said: "Tell me ma me ma, NUFC Cup winners 26/02/23" etched onto his left leg. The 31-year-old, from Cramlington, Northumberland, had the artwork done on Thursday.

Three days later, Newcastle United lost 2-0 to Manchester United in the cup final at Wembley. It was the first time the Magpies had been in a cup final since 1999.

The toon fan, who is dad to eight-year-old Honey, said: "I got it done on Thursday last week. I was booked in for a tattoo anyway and I said to my mates 'I might get it done'. When I did get it done they were like 'Jesus Christ, what have you done?'"
