The bank holiday weekend in the North East is likely to see many of us heading outdoors and getting those barbecues going as the warm and sunny weather continues.
According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, the UK could see the hottest day of the year so far across the weekend with temperatures expected to reach as high as 24°C in some areas down south. While the North East won't see the mercury hit quite this high, most of the region is in for dry conditions with "plenty of sunshine" across the three days, meteorologists have said.
The weekend will get off to a bright start for many on Saturday, before cloud increases with fresh westerly winds that might make the day feel cooler - although parts of the region could still see highs of up to 20°C. The outlook for Sunday and Monday is dry with patchy cloud and plenty of sunshine likely, although it will once again feel cooler at the coast.
