North East hour-by-hour Met Office weather forecast on Thursday as strong winds set to hit region

Strong winds are set to hit the North East on Thursday with powerful gusts predicted to reach as high as 40mph.

The Met Office has forecast that it will be a dry and cloudy day on November 10, however, anyone heading out is being warned to expect a blustery day.

In Newcastle, wind gusts are expected to hit 40mph at around 1pm and remain strong throughout the day at around 35mph. Despite this, it will feel mild, with highs of 15°C.

The strong winds will continue into Friday, November 11, reaching 42mph at midday, but easing off throughout the afternoon and into the evening. It is also expected to be another cloudy day but there will be some sunny spells and highs of 16 °C.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Mostly cloudy and very mild, with limited cloud breaks allowing brief sunny intervals in the east. Some drizzle is possible on western high ground. Very gusty winds with gales in places. Maximum temperature 16 °C."
