As Tropical Storm Debby gains strength and moves back inland, the governor of North Carolina is urging residents to brace themselves for significant rainfall and potential flooding.
Gov. Roy Cooper emphasized the importance of preparedness, stating, 'All North Carolinians across our state need to be ready for a deluge. We are expecting more rain than what most of us typically experience in a month, or even several months.'
In anticipation of the storm's impact, the state has strategically stationed 17 swift water rescue teams as a proactive measure, according to Emergency Management director William Ray.
Governor Cooper stressed the critical need for safety precautions, advising people to refrain from walking or driving through flooded areas. He cautioned, 'Now is not the time to test if your car can float, because it cannot.'
