North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, who was previously considered a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris, officially endorsed Harris for president on Sunday. Cooper expressed his confidence in Harris, citing their past working relationship dating back to their time as Attorneys General. He praised Harris for her ability to defeat Donald Trump and lead the country with thoughtfulness and integrity. Cooper also announced his intention to campaign for Harris in North Carolina, emphasizing the importance of winning the state in the upcoming election.

Prior to President Joe Biden's decision not to run for re-election, there had been speculation within the Democratic Party about Cooper potentially being a running mate for Harris. However, Cooper had not publicly engaged in discussions regarding this speculation. With his endorsement of Harris, Cooper has thrown his support behind the Vice President's presidential bid.
