A suspected gastrointestinal illness outbreak aboard a cruise ship in France has put health authorities on alert, but officials say there is still no confirmation that the infection is norovirus, despite growing speculation surrounding the incident.
The outbreak was reported onboard the British-operated cruise ship ‘Ambition’ operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, where dozens of passengers developed symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach discomfort during the voyage. French health authorities have launched an investigation and are currently carrying out laboratory testing to determine the exact pathogen behind the illness.
