Noni Madueke's Chelsea deadline for Cody Gakpo showdown vs Liverpool as £35m transfer closes in

Chelsea supporters will be desperate to get a glimpse of Noni Madueke against Liverpool if Todd Boehly can wrap up a deal before the deadline. Jurgen Klopp's side are set to welcome the Blues to Anfield on Saturday afternoon, January 21, as Graham Potter looks to build-upon the win against Crystal Palace.

The west Londoners are already heading into the clash armed with new signing Mykhailo Mudryk so the potential addition of the PSV Eindhoven star will serve as a huge boost. football.london understands that Chelsea are in advanced talks with the Dutch giants in a deal worth around £35million.

The England youth international, who left Tottenham in 2018 to sign for PSV, has featured nine times for Ruud van Nistelrooy's side this season, directly contributing towards two goals. Despite an injury-ridden campaign, Madueke's impressive displays have courted the attention of Europe's biggest clubs.

Initially, PSV were adamant that they would not want to sell their star-man after having already sold Cody Gakpo to Liverpool earlier in the month. But, after talks intensified on Thursday afternoon, a deal is close to being struck.

If Chelsea can wrap up a deal, have the relevant paperwork signed and register Madueke by midday on Friday, January 20, then the winger could line up against his former teammate on Saturday, January 21. The deadline for a new player to be registered to a Premier League squad and then feature is at midday of the last working day before a fixture.

Speaking to Sky Sports in April, Madueke admitted that he was eyeing a return to England. He said: "I definitely want to play there next.

"Whether it is this summer or whenever it is, for now, I am focusing on the rest of the season. It is definitely an ambition of mine to play there. I have had a kickstart in my career by playing a lot of games at a young age. I feel like I will be ready for any step I take."
