The sleeping arrangements that Prince William and his wife Kate have now been revealed - after a floor plan of Kensington Palace came to light. They have come as a surprise to some people who thought that the couple slept together in an upstairs bedroom - possibly accessed up a grand staircase.
Following the normal rules of royal protocol the pair have not given interviews about their home life. However a floor plan of their home has shown exactly where each of the bedrooms are in their home.
The apartment differs compared to the usual layout with the main bedroom that the couple share is on the ground floor of Kensington Palace’s Apartment 1A. That is because the upstairs is used mainly by their staff reports OK !

With that in mind the Cambridges live predominantly on the ground floor of their luxury property that is located within the royal palace in London. Of course 1A Kensington Palace isn’t your average apartment, it is an impressive four-storey mansion which has its own lift, gym and nine rooms that are just for the staff.
It is being reported that the property is in fact ‘enormous’ all the way from the basement through to the attic. British royal author Christopher Warwick has explained exactly why the property is called an "apartment" on True Royalty's Royal Beat.
He said: “All of these royal residences at Kensington Palace are called apartments, which of course makes people immediately think they are flats like the American term for an apartment. They are not. If you think of Kensington Place in a way, it is built around three courtyards.
“If you kind of think of them as being these wonderful red brick terrace houses. Because they are all joined, but separate houses.” Royal author Ingrid Seward has also said: “It's enormous... and it's like a piece of countryside in London.”
It is the Cambridges’ London base however it is not the only home they have. Alongside the apartment they also have their Norfolk country home called Anmer Hall and that is where the family spent the UK lockdown.
In the lockdown Kate offered a rare sneak peek behind the closed doors of the family’s Kensington Palace apartment. The photos published in Nursing Times showed the Duchess of Cambridge conducting Zoom interviews from the living space in the royal home.
Kate had used the space to record a special video for the Nursing Now charity. Kate has been a patron of them since 2018. In the two images you could see the décor as well as the light and bright living room features with a colourful yet traditional patterned rug.
39-year-old Kate was seen speaking on Zoom with her iPad positioned on the coffee table in front of the green armchair that Kate was sitting on at the time. Fans who have a keen eye for detail noticed a school photograph of William and Kate's two eldest children in a frame next to some pink roses.
