Non-dairy creamer passed both sugar and dairy milk as the biggest source of calories people add to their coffee, according to a Tufts University analysis of national diet data from about 30,000 U.S. adults.
Americans did not drink more coffee over the study period. Average intake held at roughly 13 ounces a day. But the calories tied to those cups climbed from 43 to 60 a day between 2003 and 2018, largely because more people poured in non-dairy creamer.
