Nominations for North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards are now open

The North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards return this year to celebrate the best of what the community has to offer.

However, before they can get underway they need potential winners to be nominated.

Anyone can apply or nominate someone for the awards as long as they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community or if they are allied to the community.

As always awards such as Best Employer Award and the LGBTQ+ Ally Award will be handed out to worthy winners.

This year will also feature three new categories - the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, Best Social Media Award and LGBTQ+ Networker of the Year Award.

Managing Director, Drew Cockton, told the ECHO: "People can expect a glittering, completely 'over the top' red carpet vibe from the awards.

"We went all out last year with our decoration as did our guests with their outfits. Lots of awards evenings can be very stale and corporate but the LGBTQ+ Business Awards won't be."

Drew explained that after what a hard few years it has been for businesses as a result of Covid, that it is important as ever "to support and champion all their achievements and in particular LGBTQ+ owned businesses and people who sadly continue to face discrimination and challenges in spite of recent progress."

He continued: "After the spate of homophobic attacks in Liverpool last year and the irresponsible actions of high profile ambassadors from the city, we must send a clear message that Liverpool and the wider North West region welcomes and supports marginalised members of society and prejudice will not be tolerated."

The ceremony is set to be held at The Titanic Hotel in Liverpool on Friday 22 October 2022.
