Noel Gallagher says Oasis split was 'crash and burn' and bandmates were 'far from adult'

Noel Gallagher has spoken once again about rumours of a potential Oasis reunion alongside brother Liam Gallagher following comebacks for Britpop rivals Blur and Pulp.

The warring Gallagher brothers have not been on stage together since the iconic Manchester based band broke up in 2009 and their relationship has only soured in the intervening years.

The two brothers have been locked in a bitter feud for over a decade - with it previously reported that Noel's now ex-wife Sara MacDonald's strained relationship with brother-in-law Liam was a major factor in Oasis' 2009 split.

It's believed Sara was strongly opposed to Oasis reuniting, after Liam once reportedly called her 11 times in one night to hurl insults back in 2002.

Liam was not present when Noel and Sara tied the knot in 2011 and in 2020, mum-of-two Sara revealed he had never met either of his nephews.

However, rumours of a comeback have been circulating ever since news of Noel's divorce to the music publicist broke in January.

Things escalated further following Liam's alleged tweet before Manchester City's Champions League final against Inter Milan. It read: "If Man City wins the Champions League, I [will] call my brother and I [will] bring back the f****** band together LG x." Man City won 1-0 thanks to Rodri's second-half strike in Istanbul.

Noel has been keen to dispel talks of a comeback; which was the topic of choice in a recent interview with NME.

Britpop rivals Blur and Pulp will be returning to the stage in 2023, with the former also releasing a new album on July 21, and Noel was asked about their impending reunions.

He said: "I didn’t know that, but good luck to them! Blur never split up, did they? Pulp never split up, they just went and did other things, which is the adult way of doing it.

"Sadly my f****** band were very far from adult about it. It was a bit more crash and burn."

Noel was then asked if Oasis had ever been offered to return as some sort of Britpop reunion package alongside their 90s chart rivals, even suggesting on perhaps a cruise.

He added: "Inevitably, it will happen. There’s never really been a serious offer about ‘The Big O’ getting back together, but there you go."
