Boris Johnson didn't cry as he begged Tory MPs to back him and ditch their so-called 'pork-pie plot', Number 10 has said.
A group of 20 Tory MPs elected in 2019 met last night to discuss how they were going to oust the PM.
According to swirling rumours, they were planning to all send letters to Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 committee, expressing their lack of confidence in Mr Johnson.
Still there's no word of how many, if any of them, have gone through with the plan.
But that didn't stop the PM calling them up, according to reports.
Mr Johnson is said to have cried as he begged for the group of 2019 Tories to support him as he battles for his political life.
When asked if the PM was in tears as he met the MPs, the PM's press secretary said: "I've seen that report, it's not true."
The PM's Secretary admitted she was not there when they spoke. But she added a second time, "it's not true".
Christian Wakeford, who defected from the Conservative party to Labour this afternoon, was a Tory 2019 MP who had been expressing his anger over the PM's handling of partygate for some time.
Mr Wakeford was cheered by the Labour party as he sat on their benches. But Tories hissed and cried "shocking" at the same time.
The gathering got its pork nickname as Alicia Kearns MP for Rutland and Melton hosted the gathering - Melton is the town best known for its pork pies.
Mr Wakeford was one of seven Tory MPs had publicly called for Johnson's resignation.
In a historic letter to Mr Johnson he said the Tories are "incapable of offering the leadership and government this country deserves".
But the PM insisted he will win the next election, despite senior Tory David Davis telling him "in the name of God, go" in the Commons.
Responding to Mr Wakeford's defection publicly, Mr Johnson said at PMQ's: "The Conservative Party won Bury South for the first time in generations under this Prime Minister, with an agenda of uniting and levelling up and delivering for the people of Bury South.
“And we will win again in Bury South at the next election - under this Prime Minister!”
