PANAJI: Goa hasn't seen any serious suspect of monkeypox, said state epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar, adding that the sample of the only suspected case, which was sent to NIV, Pune, has tested negative. It was more of a chickenpox case, he said.
Although there are no monkeypox cases detected in India, the health ministry has sent an advisory and detailed guidelines to deal with suspected cases. "The advisories have been sent to all doctors in the state, whether in government or private set up, to monitor any cases of fever and rash, especially if such cases have a travel history to affected countries," Betodkar said. Doctors, he said, should be suspicious of such cases and the samples have to be sent for testing to NIV, Pune.
