No NYPD investigation after e-bike crash leaves woman in coma

Jean

A 43-year-old jogger named Jean is in a medically induced coma after being struck by an e-bike in Central Park on July 7.
Jean suffered a traumatic brain injury requiring emergency cranial surgery, a broken elbow, and deep lacerations needing skin grafts.
Witnesses reported that the e-bike rider was traveling the wrong way in the running lane when he hit Jean from behind.
The New York Police Department confirmed there is currently no investigation into the crash, though the cyclist provided his details at the scene.
Jean's family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover her medical and living expenses, and to raise awareness about the dangers of e-bikes, which have been linked to thousands of injuries and over a hundred deaths in New York City.
