No Labels seeks unity ticket to challenge major parties in 2024

No Labels aims to work with Democrats, independents, and Republicans for better choice.

No Labels, a political organization aimed at promoting bipartisan cooperation, is making headlines as it seeks to establish a third-party presence in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Reverend Benjamin Chavis Jr., a civil rights leader and No Labels national co-chair, recently spoke about the organization's goals and strategies in an interview.

Responding to criticism from progressive group MoveOn, which accused No Labels of causing chaos and potentially aiding former President Donald Trump's return to the White House, Reverend Chavis emphasized No Labels' commitment to working with individuals across party lines. He highlighted the American people's desire for more and better choices in the upcoming election. While No Labels currently has ballot access in 14 states, Reverend Chavis stated that the organization is actively engaged in 27 states and aims to secure access in at least 34 states.

When asked about potential candidates for a unity ticket, Reverend Chavis declined to specifically mention individuals but emphasized that the selection process is carefully considering viable candidates who can lead to victory. The organization plans to announce its unity ticket, if a suitable one can be formed, after Super Tuesday in March.

Contrary to speculation, Reverend Chavis clarified that No Labels' primary goal is to win the election outright, rather than force it to the House of Representatives. He dismissed the notion that No Labels wants to prevent either major party from reaching the 270 electoral votes required to win. He affirmed that the organization's focus is on accumulating enough votes and electoral college states to secure victory in the general election.

Regarding the secrecy surrounding No Labels' ballot access efforts, Reverend Chavis explained the desire to respect the privacy of those involved, including potential candidates and supporters. He emphasized that No Labels considers its pursuit of ballot access to be a constitutional right and asserted that attempts to impede their progress would be unconstitutional. In this spirit, No Labels has written a letter to the Department of Justice, urging an investigation into potential infringements on their constitutional rights.

The outcome of No Labels' efforts to establish a third-party presence in the 2024 election remains to be seen. The organization's focus on bipartisan cooperation and increased choice resonates with many Americans who desire an alternative to the polarization of the two major parties. As the Department of Justice reviews their letter and the election season progresses, No Labels aims to provide a viable option for voters seeking an alternative path forward.
