West Ham United manager David Moyes has given the biggest indication yet that he intends on being at the London Stadium beyond the end of this summer.
The West Ham manager, who turns 60 on Tuesday, has come under pressure for much of the campaign due to the Hammers’ poor form in the Premier League this term, sitting just four points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone with only eight games remaining, having spent over £170million on new signings this season.
It could however still be a season to remember for West Ham, who are in a European semi-final for a second straight season, facing Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for a place in June’s final in Prague against either Basel or Fiorentina.

Despite that, there have been heavy links that Moyes will leave West Ham at the end of this season, with Lille boss Paulo Fonseca strongly linked with replacing him and Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter among those also reportedly on the club’s shortlist to succeed Moyes, even if he seals safety in the Premier League and wins the Europa Conference League.
Asked about his future, with the Scot’s London Stadium contract not set to run out until the summer of 2024, as far as he is concerned, while he is obviously prioritising a crucial end to the season in the Premier League and Europe, as far as he is concerned, he will be the Hammers’ manager next season.
“I’m planning for next season. I’ve got no intention of leaving,” said Moyes.
“I’m getting on with my job, doing everything that I do and obviously, my head's down and focused on how I'm getting myself more points at the moment, that's the only thing I can think about.”
On a number of occasions this season, especially since Christmas, Moyes has gone into matches with a must-win, or must-not-lose tag to them. In those games, they have beaten Everton, Nottingham Forest and away at Fulham in recent months.
Asked whether the pressure on him has ever made him think he would join the 12 Premier League managers who have been sacked this season across England’s top-flight, Moyes felt that he has always had the backing of those above him.
“I'm gonna say no. I didn’t. No. I trusted them,” added Moyes.
“I think they know what they've got as well. But, as I say, sometimes there's a lot of people out there which can make you change.”
