Aberdeen boss Jim Stewart has labelled Anthony Stewart's sending off as 'disappointing' as his Dons side lost 2-1 to Rangers in their Viaplay Cup semi-final.
Aberdeen took the lead thanks to a strike from Bojan Miovski before Ryan Jack levelled the score early in the second half. The match was heading for extra time when Stewart clumsily collided with Fashion Sakala leading referee Nick Walsh to issue him a straight red card. It's his second sending off of the season after being dismissed against St. Mirren back in December.
It was tough to take for Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin who was proud of what he saw from his side, "the aim is to progress into the final and unfortunately we were unable to do that. But I thought it was a really good game, evenly balanced at times. We both had an equal number of chances to score goals. We knew how tough the game was going to be but I am very proud of the effort my boys have given me, particularly going into extra-time a man less as well."

On Stewart's sending off he had this to say, " I was talking to a member of my staff at the time and as soon as he made the tackle I thought he was off the pitch. It was a poor decision by Anthony as I thought he could have stayed on his feet. I don't think the Rangers players was causing us too many problems in that wide area".
"He should have stayed up and jockeyed. But unfortunately a rush of blood to the head ultimately makes life very difficult for his teammates."
Rangers will play Celtic, who beat Kilmarnock yesterday, in the final on Sunday 26th February.
