In what turned out to be a devastating season, the Indianapolis Colts went without any All-Pro selections and just one player was selected to the Pro Bowl for the 2022 season.
As Seth Walder of ESPN took those rankings a bit further, he put together a list of the top 100 most valuable players in the NFL from the 2022 campaign. Unsurprisingly, the Colts didn’t have a single player on that list.
Walder noted his process was based mostly on his opinion while being “naturally inclined toward data-based evidence — ranging from pass block win rates to our Receiver Tracking Metrics.”
The Colts didn’t have anyone appear on the list, which just goes to show how poor of a season the team had. There can be some arguments made that players like DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Stephon Gilmore and Rodney McLeod deserve to be in the conversation.
But the entire offensive side of the ball was a disappointment. From the offensive line woes, Matt Ryan’s quick sharp decline and Jonathan Taylor’s nagging ankle injury, the unit had no identity in 2022.
This should be an interesting offseason for the Colts, who certainly are not devoid of talent. But they need to make some big moves this offseason if they want to be viewed as one of the better rosters in the NFL moving foward.
