If you watched the exciting finish between No. 14 Syracuse and No. 5 Clemson, you may have been a little confused when the game ended. The Tigers — who were 14-point favorites in the game — held on to stay undefeated thanks to a strong second half to overcome a 21-10 halftime deficit. When the clock hit zeroes and Clemson won, 27-21, fans started streaming onto the field.
Why would a perennial powerhouse like Clemson feel the need to rush the field after beating a lower-ranked team?
Well, they do it every game. That’s right, just like the team runs down the hill after touching Howard’s Rock before the game, tradition dictates that Clemson fans “meet at the paw” after every home football game.
