LUCKNOW: UP Fisheries minister and national president of Nishad Party, Sanjay Nishad asked his partymen to gear up for urban local body polls. He said that Nishad Party will contest the urban local body polls and 2024 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the BJP. The party is a part of the BJP alliance in the state.
He held a meeting of the party workers from the Gorakhpur region on Monday. "At least 20% of the population in all the big cities is of machhua community and at least 50 nagar parishads are machhua-dominated. This makes the participation of the Nishad party in the urban local body polls important," he said, adding that the Nishad party will keep this fact in front of the chief minister and BJP state president within a week.
He recounted to his people the work done by the BJP government in the state for welfare of the Nishad community, like the celebration of Nishadraj Jayanti at Shringverpur dham in Prayagraj on March 26 by the cultural department of the UP government. "This has happened for the first time in the last ten years when a government department participated in the celebrations," he said. The Nishad Party has been celebrating the birth anniversary of the Nishad King since 2013.
