According to NFL reporter Mike Garafolo, after months of unsuccessful negotiations with the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade.
This means the speculation about which teams are in the mix can officially begin. It also means Pittsburgh Steelers fans can once again wonder if Pittsburgh would be willing to make a move for Aiyuk knowing his talent but also knowing he is going to want a massive payday in a new contract.
Aiyuk has made it public that his first option would be to go to the Washington Commanders and play with his best friend, Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

However, Aiyuk has said when it comes to what jersey he wears this season, the Steelers come right after the Commanders. At this point it really falls on the Niners front office and what kind of offers they get. Would they take less to send Aiyuk to Washington knowing that’s where he wants to play or will they just trade him to the team swapping the most NFL draft capital?
