Nine people have been arrested after animal rights protesters delayed the start of the Grand National, Merseyside Police has confirmed.
Racegoers at Aintree did not seem to notice the slight delay to the start of the steeplechase, and cheered on the horses as they passed.
Animal Rising said dozens of supporters had climbed fences at Aintree, with at least two affixing themselves to a jump.
