Nina Carberry says Neil Delamare 'didn't deserve' to be booted off Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With The Stars hopeful Nina Carberry said she believes Neil Delamare “didn’t deserve” to be booted off the show last week.

The comedian was voted out of the RTE One show in a shock elimination.

But champion jockey Nina said she didn’t believe it was the right decision.

She said: “I was very sad to see Neill Delamere go because he was so much fun backstage and I thought he did three good dances. I didn’t think he deserved to go, but that’s just the way it goes. If you don’t get the votes, you won’t stay in.”

Speaking to Ladbrokes, she said last week’s dance where she had to transform into Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft for the tango was a “difficult dance”.

“I did the tango last weekend where I was Lara Croft. Not only did I have to learn the dance, but I also had to take on that character, so there was a lot to think about.”

But she said she wasn’t disappointed with her low score of 19 points from judges Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Arthur Gourounlian.

“It was a difficult dance but I really loved learning it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get very high marks from the judges, but I still enjoyed it. I wasn’t disappointed by the scores to be honest.

"Yes, I got high scores the previous week, but we didn’t do bad this week and it was still satisfactory.

“We got away with it and we can just try and progress now.”

Nina is dancing the cha-cha this week and she hopes to show her party side.“We are dancing to the Cha-Cha this week. It’s high-tempo and fun and again I will have to get into character, showing my party side! It’s another Latin dance so I hope it suits me again. Until I really get stuck into the choreography of it, it’s hard to know but hopefully it’s starting to click now.”

She praised Erica Cody and Missy Keating for their dancing, saying: “Erica Cody has been unbelievable, almost getting top marks every week. She hasn’t had a lull any week. Her technique and performance have consistently been incredible. I also thought Missy Keating had a brilliant weekend as well.

“The support I have received has been overwhelming. My main priority is to keep up the quality of dancing and keeping everyone entertained at home,” she added.
