Nikola Jokić is back for another season of NBA basketball. He doesn’t seem very happy about it.
Speaking with the media on Thursday, the reigning Finals MVP and leader of the Denver Nuggets was asked how his life has changed since becoming an NBA champion earlier this year.
“Nothing,” Jokić deadpanned in response. “Absolutely nothing.”
“Absolutely nothing.”

If this were coming from any other player, you might think he was being cheeky. For the vast majority of players in the NBA, winning a title is the culmination of a lifelong dream.
This feels less true for Jokić. Earlier this week during media days, Jokić said this summer was one of the least enjoyable of his life, simply because he lost so much of his free time to playing in the NBA Finals.
Jokić’s disenchantment with the glory that comes with being an NBA superstar is nothing new. The night the Nuggets won the championship back in June, Jokić already was exasperated with the fact that he had to stay in Denver a few extra days to celebrate the win with a parade.

The Nuggets head into the 2023-24 season as the favorites to come out of the Western Conference and reach the NBA Finals once again.
But if they fall short of those high expectations, it doesn’t seem as if Jokić will be too disappointed.
