After reports indicated that NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokić misplaced the Bill Russell Trophy awarded to him as the series’ Most Valuable Player, the trophy has now been found, per ESPN’s Malika Andrews.
Jokić told Andrews that he really had no idea where it went in an interview that aired Wednesday.
“I really don’t know,” he began. “I left it in Sparky [Gonzales]‘s room and it’s not there anymore so I don’t know,” the Nuggets star added, without too much concern.
Andrews noted in her tweet that Gonzales had the trophy cleaned and ready for Thursday’s parade in downtown Denver.
Whether Jokić cares about the trophy itself or not, it’s back in the hands of its rightful owner.
Jokić captured the NBA Finals MVP after averaging 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in Denver’s 4–1 series win over Miami.
