Nikita Mazepin will be banned from competing at this year’s British Grand Prix, Motorsport UK announced today.

Haas’ Russian driver was given the all-clear to race this season following a meeting of the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council yesterday. But he will be banned from driving for the team in the race at Silverstone in July.

In a statement, Motorsport UK chairman Dave Richards said: "We would encourage the motorsport community and our colleagues around the world to fully embrace the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and do whatever we can to end this war.”

Mazepin’s position at Haas still hangs in the balance despite being given clearance to race as a neutral athlete by the FIA.

His father Dmitry effectively bankrolls his position with the team but has been an ally of Russian president Vladimir Putin. Haas have made no comment over Mazepin’s future at the team.
