Nike Scores Another Designer Collaboration Making It the Runaway Winner in the Field

Collaborations have become fashion staples. It seems like every fashion house has or is partnering with some other person, place or thing. Last year alone Fendi teamed up with Marc Jacobs, Balmain got together with Beyoncé, Jimmy Choo partnered with Jean Paul Gaultier, Rabanne made waves with H&M... So far this year Diane von Furstenberg's Target collection premiered, Mejuri and Ganni shared their best friend status and Celine and Master & Dynamic introduced arguably the chicest headphones ever. But when it comes to sporty pairings, Nike is the holy grail for designers so it's not surprising that another fashion brand is unveiling a new collab.

Now former Creative Director of Givenchy Matthew M. Williams just revealed that his label 1017 ALYX 9SM is working with Nike to create a cool new yoga collection. (This isn't the first time Williams has worked with the athletic powerhouse dropping a capsule toward the end of 2021.) The new collab features items for both men and women, including fleece pants, puffers, multipurpose shorts, sports bras, leggings and more. Combining "life in New York and California with the latest innovations," the collection is designed to be worn in and out of the yoga studio proving athleisure is still going strong. MMW x Nike Yoga is now available on 1017 ALYX 9SM's website.

Nike loves a good fashion collab. The sportswear leader's roster of collaborators include Tiffany & Co., Sacai, Undercover, Off-White, Christian Dior, Alexander McQueen and those are just the sneaker ones. Nike has also teamed up with Jacquemus a couple of times. Last year the dynamic duo upgraded to an apparel line boasting miniskirts and crop tops. Back in February of this year, the pair rolled out a new collection featuring the instantly collectible Le Sac Swoosh. The rest of the offering contains strappy sports bras, draped leggings, shorts and dresses.

Martine Rose is another Nike teammate. The brands co-designed sporty suits, shirts and trenches along with accessories, like stockings, gloves and sunglasses. The gear was so fire that the United States Women's National Team was decked out in the ensembles for some of their matches.

Sure, there are other sports brands joining forces with fashion houses. Wales Bonner's Adidas collab is super successful with its kicks and clothes selling out left to right. Rihanna's Fenty worked with Puma on new shoes. (Good luck hunting them down, too.) But Nike is still the gold standard, the big fish in a big pond. Which means we're bound to keep seeing Nike team up with fashion houses since it's the real MVP.
