Liverpool booked their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to a relatively comfortable home win over Cardiff.
The game will be remembered for Harvey Elliott's excellent return from injury, and his fine strike to cap a memorable afternoon.
But what about the players away from Anfield this season? Liverpool sent a clutch of young players out on loan this campaign, with many plying their trade in the EFL.
January saw two new players head out to the second tier, whilst Rhys Williams ended his unsuccessful spell with Swansea early.
Here, Mirror Sport runs the rule over those out on loan and checks in on how they got on over the weekend.
Which of these players will go on to become a first team regular at Anfield? Let us know in the comments
Nat Phillips
Defender Phillips made a deadline day move to Championship high-fliers Bournemouth but endured a nightmare debut.
The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Scott Parker's side suffered a humiliating FA Cup fourth round loss at home to non-league Boreham Wood.
A goal from their veteran midfielder Mark Ricketts was enough to seal a famous win for the National League side.
Phillips, who said he was eager to depart Anfield after being restricted to just three appearances in the first half of the campaign, was also booked during the contest.
He will be hoping for a better day at the office when the Cherries return to league duties at home to Birmingham on Wednesday.
Neco Williams
Welsh international Williams was another Reds player who moved on deadline day.
He joined Fulham, with the aim to help the Cottagers achieve an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
On Saturday he made his debut in their FA Cup tie away at Manchester City. And it was a dream start for Williams' temporary employers as Fabio Carvalho put them ahead after four minutes.
But the dream did not last long as City roared back and ended up winning 4-1. Williams played the full 90 minutes and can at least be content with the fact he is unlikely to come up against such a strong attacking force between now and the end of the season.
Ben Davies
Davies, who has never made an appearance for his parent club, made a welcome return to action for Sheffield United on Friday.
He made his first start in exactly two months and played the full 90 minutes as the Blades came from behind to win 2-1 at Birmingham.
He made a couple of crucial blocks and challenges, and marshalled the defence well on his return.
Sepp van den Berg
Preston continued their upturn in form with a 1-0 win away at Hull on Saturday.
Defender van den Berg played the full 90 and helped his side to a third clean sheet in four. Cameron Archer's goal was the difference between the two sides.
Once again the Dutch defender caught the eye with some neat passing and remained composed in defence.
North End are now just four points off the play-offs ahead of a midweek clash with fifth-placed Huddersfield.
Paul Glatzel
Striker Glatzel featured in Tranmere's 1-1 draw with Barrow, a result that helped the League Two side preserve second spot.
Glatzel was subbed in stoppage time as he made his eighth league start.
Jake Cain
Midfielder Cain is putting together his best run of games for Newport County. The 20-year-old made a sixth consecutive start for the Exiles but couldn't prevent a 2-0 loss away at league leaders Forest Green.
That ended a fine run of four straight wins, but Newport remain firmly in the play-off spots.
Cain played the full 90 minutes but did pick up his first booking of the season.
Sheyi Ojo
Midfielder Ojo has missed the last three Millwall games through injury. The Lions are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to leaders Fulham.
